Huge field expected for 2016

The 37th annual running of the Snow Joke Half Marathon is already shaping up to be the biggest Snow Joke ever. Last year’s turnout of 806 participants established an impressive new record for the size of the field, and our registrations are running well ahead of that so far this year. We’re stoked by the enthusiasm, and a big field means big fun for everybody involved. But it creates some challenges, too. To keep the parking under control, maintain a smooth check-in process, and ensure everybody’s safety on the road, we need to limit the field to 1,000 runners.

There are still plenty of open slots as of today, but our current projections have us running right up against our capacity. Runner’s World wrote about the Snow Joke twice last year, and there’s no telling what kind of impact that might have on our turnout. As a result, we can’t promise that we’ll be able to accept walk-up registrations come race day, or even that online registration will remain open through race week, so we encourage all of you who want to be assured of a spot to register as soon as possible.

The same goes for shirts. We’ll have only a limited quantity, so if you want to be assured of a memento of what might literally be the coolest half marathon you’ll ever run, make sure you reserve one using our online registration form. You can also register in person at Bob Ward’s in Missoula and Helena and reserve your shirts there.

With seven weeks to go, we hope all of you have a great couple months of training from now up until the race. We want to see 1,000 smiling faces cross the finish line on Feb. 27. Get after it, Jokers.
